The new U.S. administration under President Joe Biden is starting out with big plans for sustainability. The Democrats also want to drive forward the expansion of renewable energies. "A lot of money will flow into this area, but for European investors the segment is not attractive, at least not yet", says Markus W. Voigt, CEO of the aream Group.
At the end of 2021, a new solar park with a total capacity of 21 megawatts, including a transformer station, is to be connected to the grid in Germany. This is being developed by the Clean Energy Future Fund of aream GmbH together with NaGa Solar. “A special feature of this project is that the electricity will be marketed via direct purchase contracts”, says Markus W. Voigt, CEO of aream Group.
In December 2020, both wind and solar energy yields were weak. Germany achieved 92 percent of the average for solar, and only 74 percent for wind. "Nevertheless, renewable energies are right on target for the year as a whole", says Markus W. Voigt, CEO of the aream Group.
Electricity for remote areas and for those who cannot afford it: With the non-profit PowerOneForOne Foundation, founded in 2018, the aream Group is pushing its social commitment. In 2020, another six projects in three countries could be completed. "With this, we have not only achieved our goals, but exceeded them, despite the restrictions caused by the pandemic", says Janine Voigt, Managing Director of the PowerOneForOne Foundation.
