Solar energy experienced a mixed start to the year, with wind also blowing less strongly. For 2021 as a whole, the picture is mixed: photovoltaics had a below-average year. Wind generation was also weak. From an investor's perspective, however, the year looks better. "Higher electricity prices more than offset the production declines", explains Markus W. Voigt, CEO of aream Group.

Times are good for investors in renewable energies. Projects in Europe are currently yielding returns of up to eight percent, with project development yielding as much as eleven percent. However, the run on solar and wind plants is causing prices to rise. As a result, yields are likely to come under pressure. "For those who want to take advantage of the very high yields now, there is currently a window of opportunity", explains Markus W. Voigt, CEO of the aream Group.

The EU is arguing about whether electricity from nuclear or gas power plants qualifies for inclusion in the ranks of sustainable, green investments. "They don't belong there, that's clear", says Markus W. Voigt, CEO of aream Group. "The good thing is that institutional investors have known that for a long time, act accordingly and won't change it."

"Here we can provide an attractive project for our investors."
