High and fluctuating energy prices drive up costs for companies and make planning difficult. This does not have to be the case. "Many entrepreneurs are not aware that the solution to their problems is right above their head, on the roof," says Markus W. Voigt, CEO of the aream Group. Currently, there are still gigantic roof areas in Germany on which a solar power system could be installed. To tap this potential, aream is now cooperating with Vario green energy Concept GmbH, a developer of photovoltaic projects.
Germany is currently in a poor position in international competition. One major disadvantage in this country is the high cost of energy. To ease the burden on companies, politicians and economists are now calling for a subsidized industrial electricity price. "The idea is obvious and perhaps well-intentioned, but it goes in completely the wrong direction", commented Markus W. Voigt, CEO of the aream Group. "Because an electricity price subsidy would slow down the trend towards low-cost green electricity."
Records are celebrated on the stock exchange and in sports competitions. When it comes to the climate, however, they cause consternation. As was the case in July: according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), last month was the warmest month ever recorded. “The data are a loud reminder to the world’s governments to significantly step up their efforts in switching to renewable energy”, comments Markus W. Voigt, CEO of the aream Group. “More needs to be done in Europe as well.”
Renewables now bear the brunt of Germany's electricity supply. But it still needs the coal and gas to provide the base load. Storage facilities would be a solution, but they are prevented by bureaucracy in often absurd ways. - A commentary by Markus W. Voigt, CEO of the aream Group.
