Politicians in Europe are setting ambitious targets for CO₂ savings, and companies are also increasingly proving to be the driving force behind climate protection. Demand from industry for renewable energies is also growing rapidly. "For example, we just advised an automotive supplier on its entry into wind power", says Markus W. Voigt, CEO of the aream Group.
As a result, contracts for the purchase of two wind farms with two turbines each were signed in mid-July: The automotive supplier acquired the turbines from JUWI, a specialist in renewable energies. The wind farms are currently being built in Hesse and are scheduled to be commissioned at the end of the year. Their installed capacity totals 16.8 megawatts. The automotive supplier intends to use the electricity itself, thus taking a further step towards climate neutrality.
The signing of the deal does not mark the end of the collaboration, which is set to run for the long term. Markus Voigt: "We advised the company, structured the transaction and carried out both the purchase process and the design of the power purchase agreement, in cooperation with the responsible energy supplier." After commissioning of the wind farms, aream will take over the commercial management.
With its products, the automotive supplier is already making an important contribution to reducing vehicle weight and thus CO₂ emissions. In addition, the company has committed to reducing its emissions by at least 25 percent by 2025.
For JUWI, a subsidiary of MVV Energie AG, this is another transaction with a strategic investor. "We are pleased to be able to further expand our investor base in this area and thus also strengthen our long-standing business relationship with the aream Group, an experienced investment and asset manager", says Katharina Feiden, Head of Project Finance & Marketing at JUWI.
