The trend towards sustainable investments is unbroken. More and more products are coming onto the market and more and more investors are including ESG criteria in their investment decisions. "Renewable energies were pioneers in this field, which is why we have many years of experience in sustainable and impact investing", says Markus W. Voigt, CEO of the aream Group.
At the 3rd Sustainable Investor Summit on October 21st, 2020 in Frankfurt, Voigt will speak about these experiences. As a panel participant and as host of another panel, Voigt brings the expertise of the exclusively green investment to the table. "When it comes to renewables, the focus is clear from the outset: there is only completely sustainable or not at all", says Voigt. "And the need for action is particularly great in the field of energy generation. Institutional investors, in particular, are looking for investments that can meet the social and ecological challenges in the long term while offering attractive financial returns.
Converting energy production is one of the decisive tasks for the future. "This is the only way to limit the emission of climate-damaging exhaust gases", says Voigt. "This is even more true since many of the new, sustainable business models are digital in their design - and increase electricity consumption for the time being." Here, photovoltaics and wind, just like hydropower, offer real alternatives. "Other energy sources such as biogas are making great leaps in development", says Voigt. "Above all, however, storage solutions are also becoming increasingly important - and more attractive than plants."
The strong growth of sustainable investments shows the necessity to finance social and ecological developments and projects. In addition, impact investments have developed rapidly over the past ten years and go far beyond the prevention of damage and the mitigation of risks. "Positive results for society and the environment are the goal", says Voigt.
As the importance of sustainable and impact-oriented investments grows exponentially, compliance with standards and integrity is crucial. The main objectives of the 3rd Sustainable Investor Summit are therefore also to promote and mobilize investments across the entire spectrum of capital that can contribute to solutions for social and environmental challenges. The conference is a meeting place for investors and companies from the DACH region with leading asset managers from the field of sustainable investments and impact investments.
