High atmospheric pressure brought plenty of sunshine to Germany again in October, which also benefited solar power generation. The targets were met here, and in some cases even exceeded in southern Europe. The yield from wind turbines was also impressive. "Diversification of assets remains central for investors", says Markus W. Voigt, CEO of aream Group.

As in September, high atmospheric pressure ensured that the sun shone strongly last month. Production from solar energy reached 100 percent in Germany. In Spain, the yield in October was even four percentage points above expectations. Only Italy was just below expectations at one percent. In total, the target was slightly exceeded by one percent.

The wind blew somewhat more strongly again in October and the wind turbine harvest in Germany exceeded the target by three percent. This shortened the gap for the year-to-date period from 17 percentage points in September to just 15 percentage points in October.

"Investments in renewable energies should be spread over different pillars", advises Voigt. This is because the changing weather patterns cause the yields of individual locations and forms of energy to fluctuate, sometimes significantly.  A longer investment period, the geographical distribution of investments and a mix of energy sources provide a balance.
